Turner Industries Sponsors 19th Annual Juneteenth Festival - Friday, June 18, 2010

Turner Industries, for the second year, is
sponsoring Baton Rouge, La.’s 19th Annual Juneteenth Roots &
Heritage Festival. Juneteenth Day (the 3rd Saturday in June) is
celebrated throughout Louisiana in honor of the Day African Americans celebrate
Emancipation Day.
This year’s celebration includes choirs, exhibits, speakers,
great food, and live music. The headline act, The Charmaine Neville Band, hails
from New Orleans, LA. For the past 20 years, the band’s jazz and funk sound has
won critics and fans the world over (http://www.charmainenevilleband.com/cnpress.html).
The Baton Rouge area Juneteenth festival is presented by the
Odell S. Williams Now And Then Museum of African-American History. The Museum,
located in downtown Baton Rouge, features exhibits highlighting minority
inventors and inventions, African art, and rural artifacts. Turner Industries,
a three-year sponsor of the museum, appreciates the opportunity to be a part of
the Juneteenth celebration.
