Air Products Facility
|

One of the largest private sector
projects in the United States-Marathon Petroleum's Garyville, Louisiana, major
refinery expansion-required the simultaneous construction of the neighboring
Air Products facility that provides the hydrogen and steam needed for the
refinery's operation. As Air Products' general mechanical contractor for both
the Mechanical I and II Phases of the 120 million standard cubic feet diameter
H2 facility project, Turner Industries' detailed project scope
included 133 work packages and an original work schedule of five 10-hour days
per week. We self-performed the majority of the work, including structural
steel, equipment, piping, refractory, brick work, convection insulation and
catalyst loading. The project was completed with zero OSHA recordable injuries and on-time delivery of all
mechanical systems.
For this project, Associated
Builders and Contractors awarded Turner Industries with an Excellence In
Construction Award (Industrial $15-25 million category), an honor given annually to outstanding projects from
across the nation.
