BP Whiting Modernization
|

As one of its largest jobs to
date, the Turner Industries Pipe Fabrication Division began fabricating more
than 52,000 pipe spools (individual sections of piping) for the BP Whiting Modernization Project.
The $3.8 billion TIV (total installed value) project, located in Whiting,
Indiana, will increase the BP refinery's capacity to process Canadian heavy
crude by 260,000 barrels per day and will increase the facility's gasoline and
diesel production by 4.7 billion gallons per year, which is approximately 15%
of the current annual output, according to Downstream
Today.
All of our Texas fabrication shops are working on this project. As
the spools are finished, they are sent to module manufacturers for assembly,
then shipped to the site as completed modules. In addition to the module
spools, Turner is fabricating the pipe that will be used as the on-site
connectors for the installation of the modules. The total project is on track for completion in December,
2011.
