Turner Industries’ internal volunteer group, TEAM Turner, and their employee recognition division, Turner Employees Connecting (TEC), led a company-wide movement honoring the 10th anniversary of September 11. The entire Turner community reflected on the tragic events that occurred ten years ago in New York City, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., paying respect to all who were affected, and to those who served and continue to serve.
To commemorate the fateful day, Chairman/CEO, Roland Toups, and Vice Chairman/COO, Thomas Turner, addressed a letter to the NYPD, NYFD, and the people of New York, thanking them for their sacrifices in saving lives. The letter was then enlarged on a 4’ x 6’ board and signed by Turner employees from Texas offices in Beaumont, Houston, and Paris, and Louisiana offices in Baton Rouge and Lake Charles. The letter will be delivered to the 9/11 memorial services director in New York City and eventually to the Mayor.
Along with commemorating 9/11, Turner’s Baton Rouge office honored the men and women who risk their lives every day to defend this country. Care packages were sent to Louisiana soldiers stationed around the world, filled with necessities and luxuries such as games and snacks. Letters and home-baked goods were also sent to local Baton Rouge police and fire departments as a token of gratitude for their services.
Turner offers its appreciation and support to all who were affected and continue to be affected by the events of 9/11. Your losses, sacrifices and heroism are not forgotten.
