Turner Industries Employee Leads Learning Session at Regional Conference

Turner Industries Safety Training Manager, Chris Jarrell, recently represented Turner Industries as one of the speakers at the Louisiana Governor’s Safety and Health Conference in Baton Rouge, La. The two-day event, put on by the Alliance Safety Council, is a collaborative conference which promotes the “best practices and the latest tools for advancing safety, health, and preparedness in business.”

Jarrell led the conference session “Rig It Right and It Won’t Be Wrong,” addressing proper and safe rigging procedures used in the maintenance and construction industry. “I spoke to a great group of professionals from across the Gulf South,” Jarrell said. “Due to recent OSHA construction standard changes regarding cranes and rigging there is a renewed focus on safety. For many years rigging was an after-thought, taken for granted. Most in the industry now understand that it’s a skilled craft that requires training and a great deal of thought and calculation.”
