Baton Rouge, Louisiana – At the 2014 Capital Area United Way’s annual meeting and awards luncheon held July 21, at the LSU Lod Cook Alumni Center, Turner Industries received the Five Star Award and The Standard of Excellence Award.
The Five Star Award is presented to companies that fully support the organization and the community through five key actions that support the United Way call of action to give, advocate, and volunteer.
The Standard of Excellence Award is given to a company in the Capital Area for providing outstanding financial and volunteer support. Each year, Turner conducts a national United Way campaign from our headquarters in Baton Rouge. This year Turner raised $1.7 million nationally and $733,575 in the Capital Area. This is four percent over last year for a $22,000 increase to Capital Area United Way.
“United Way has always been Turner’s major philanthropic focus, because United Way programs serve the largest number of people in the most places where our employees live and work,” said Stephen Toups, of Turner Industries and this year’s capital area campaign chairman.
