The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) honored Turner Industries Chairman and CEO Roland M. Toups with the Ed Steimel Achievement Award for his long-standing membership and service to LABI and Louisiana.
Roland has led Turner’s understanding of the importance of LABI in driving the community forward. His decades-long support to LABI dating back to the mid 1970’s is best illustrated by his personal work and by his commitment to always have a member of Turner’s executive team engaged with LABI, assuring the organization that the company will always support LABI’s efforts toward economic growth.
“The Ed Steimel award is perfect for the guy who was right there learning it from Steimel himself as a young executive. Steimel’s leadership of the Right-to-Work efforts for Louisiana enabled Roland and Turner Industries to become one of the first companies to harmoniously perform both union and non-union work in the Gulf Coast in the mid 70’s,” said LABI President and CEO Stephen Waguespack.
The Ed Steimel Achievement Award is named after Edward Joseph “Ed” Steimel Sr. (January 20, 1922 – April 8, 2016), the founding executive director of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, the state’s largest business organization, and a voice for the principles of free enterprise in Louisiana.
