Polypropylene Growth Project – PPG Project Spotlights

With 2022 being a monumental year for PPG, the project kicked off its Start Strong to Finish Strong campaign at the ExxonMobil BRPO facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The PPG project enters 2022 with over 600 Turner employees. A continued emphasis on guiding principles and core behaviors will be key to achieving successful completion.

Each week, we will be posting “Project Spotlights” to recognize individuals or groups who make significant contributions to the project.

Weekly Focued Safety Audits 

The PPG “Focused Safety Audit” for the week of March 14th, 2022, was “Working Around Mobile Equipment”, focusing on the “Life Saving Actions” required when working around mobile equipment.

Overall, the audit results were “safe” with minimal need for improvement. The key opportunity for improvement is ensuring spotters / flaggers are positioned properly to allow for safe travel of equipment and pedestrians.

Great job staying focused on “Life Saving Actions” and applying “Human Performance” concepts!

Audit Results

The PPG “Focused Safety Audit” for the week of February 7th, 2022 was ladder safety, focusing on utilizing three points of contact when ascending and descending ladders. Applying the “Hand, Hand – Foot, Foot” method during ladder use.

Overall, the audit results were “safe” with minimal need for improvement. The key opportunity for improvement was transitioning from “fast thinking” to “slow thinking” prior to ascending and descending ladders, and utilizing the “Hand, Hand – Foot, Foot” method.

Great job staying focused on “Life Saving Actions” and applying “Human Performance” concepts!

Today we spotlight James Taylor (Left), a structural foreman who is recognized for excellence in stewardship of the LPSA program and implementation throughout the project. Also, we want to highlight Miguel Villanueva (Middle) in scaffolding and Anthony George (Right) in fireproofing. Great work team and thank you for continuing the excellence in LPSA!

PPG Starts Strong in 2022

The PPG team returned from the holiday break on Monday, January 4th and brought all focus to Starting Strong. Turner Industries CEO Stevie Toups visited the site to speak to the PPG team and reinforce the core behaviors that have led to the current success of the project. ExxonMobil Project Executive Travis Fuller closed out the morning review with a focus on safety and recommitment to the guiding principles of the project.
