Turner Industries Helps Eastman Kingsport With Major Turnaround

Location
Tennessee, US
Summer-2026-Project-19

Some jobs are big. The Spring 2026 CSD Turnaround at Eastman Chemical’s Kingsport, Tennessee site was in a category of its own—one of the largest complex shutdowns in the history of a facility designated a National Historic Chemical Landmark.

Turner was brought in to manage a compressed 42-day schedule, with a peak crew of 175 craft professionals and 55 staff running 24/7 across multiple work fronts. The job touched gasifiers, exchangers, columns, and high-pressure systems, totaling more than 126,000 workhours.

When field conditions shifted, Turner’s site leadership shifted with them — adjusting headcount to match actual readiness instead of just staffing to the baseline. By trimming waste and pulling in specialized overtime only when it made sense, the team saved more than 16,000 hours.

None of that matters, of course, if the work isn’t performed correctly and safely. On a site that requires strict arsenic controls, high-pressure tape barricades, and continuous 4-gas monitoring.

“The 2026 Eastman CSD Turnaround proved what we can do when we stay agile and transparent,” said Turner Project Manager Ryan Beeson. “We stayed agile, we stayed transparent, and we delivered. Whether it was adjusting to schedule drift or hitting zero-defect welding, we proved that a job this size can not only meet expectations — it can beat them.”
