Turner Industries’ Specialized Welding Services group successfully completed dual turnarounds at Syngenta’s St. Gabriel, Louisiana, facility this summer, managing work across multiple process units with a peak workforce of 111 employees.
The team handled the PinX and SD-25 turnarounds simultaneously, covering units including HCN, HPF, EO, ET, Utilities, Packaging, and MPF.
Among the project’s significant accomplishments was replacing the 3209D vessel on PinX after inspection revealed it had reached end of life. On SD-25, the crew completed complex modifications to the 601 LA rotary drum in HPF, installing new Micronics components including the trough, wiper blades, and spray bars.
PinX ran 42 working days on a 6-10 schedule, with crews logging 6,779 total hours including 2,651 add-on hours. SD-25 extended 54 working days, accumulating 32,974 total hours with 9,105 add-on hours beyond the original 23,869 planned.
